The Tripura government today announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of journalist Sudip Datta Bhaumik, who was killed at the battalion headquarters of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) near here on November 21.
Tripura Information and Culture Minister Bhanu Lal Saha said the decision to grant ex-gratia was taken at a meeting of the council of ministers yesterday.
The state government was also ready to bear education expenses of Bhaumik's daughter, who is studying in Class 8, he said.

Dutta met the family yesterday and offered Rs one lakh on behalf of the West Bengal government.
The Tripura government had set up a special investigation team headed by DIG (Southern Range) Arindam Nath to probe the killing of Bhaumik.
Four persons, including TSR Commandant Tapan Debbarma and his bodyguard Nanda Lal Debbarma, have been arrested in connection with the killing of the journalist.
