The Tripura government is considering setting up an academy in the state to boost literary activities.

Inaugurating the 32nd book fair here, Chief Minister Manik Sarkar said "Many publication houses in the state are four decades old and books are published in different languages including Bengali, English and tribal languages. Now time has come to give a serious thought in setting up a Sahitya Academy for the state."

Prof Anisujjaman, Padmabhushan, a litterateur from Bangladesh who was the chief guest at the fair, said relation between the two countries was cordial and all pending issues could be solved through negotiations.

The fair would continue for twelve more days.
