The elected members of the ruling Left Front, including Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, were today administered the oath of office and secrecy in the new Tripura Assembly by protem speaker Niranjan Debbarma.

The Left Front won 50 seats in the 60-member Assembly and the remaining 10 seats were won by opposition Congress in the February 14 election.

Out of 15 women member who has contested, five women members, all from CPI-M were elected in the Assembly.

The opposition alliance of Congress, Indigenous Nationalist Party of Tripura and National Conference of Tripura abstained from the oath-taking ceremony alleging widespread post-poll violence in parts of the state.

The Left Front had earlier announced that former speaker of the Assembly Ramendra Chandra Debnath would be it's candidate for the post of speaker and Pabitra Kar as deputy speaker.

The first session of the 11th assembly would be held on March 15.
