Tripura minister's body brought to Agartala

The body of Khagendra Jamatiya, the fisheries minister who expired in New Delhi on Thursday, was brought here today.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, CPI(M) party secretary Bijan Dhar and BJP state President Biplab Kumar Deb placed wreaths at his body at the CPI(M) party office here.

Jamatiya, who contested from Krishnapur Assembly constituency, lost to BJP candidate Atul Debbarma.

His body was also taken to the Tripura Assembly and was given gun salute by the contingent of Tripura State Rifles (TSR).

His body was consigned to flame at his village in Trishabari in Khowai district.

Jamatiya was MLA for six terms and minister in different categories for consecutive four terms since 1998.
