Tripura Speaker Ramendra Debnath would announce his decision regarding the six MLAs of the opposition Congress who joined Trinamool Congress on August 29 here.
"Five of the six MLAs today met me with some documents and again stated that they joined Trinamool Congress. They also demanded recognition as the main opposition party. I have also verified the signatures of the MLAs and informed that speaker's decision would be announced on August 29," Speaker Ramendra Chandra Debnath said today.
Debnath said he also heard state Congress President Birajit Sinha and others and they have also presented documents.

Sudip Roy Barman, former Leader of Opposition and former Congress MLAs -- Ashish Saha, Biswabandhu Sen, Diba Chandra Hrangkhawl and Pranjit Singha Roy met the Speaker today. Congress MLA Dilip Sarkar, who also joined TMC, did not meet the speaker.
The MLAs led by Sudip Roy Burman joined TMC in June in protest against the tie-up between Congress and CPI-M in West Bengal before the assembly elections there.
In the sixty-member assembly in Tripura, the Congress strength reduced to three from 10 as six MLAs joined TMC and one joining the ruling CPI-M. The strength of Left Front in the assembly is 50.
