Tripura to give addtl 10% DA for state employees, pensioners

Coinciding with Christmas, Tripura government has decided to pay additional 10 per cent dearness allowances for its two lakh employees and pensioners, official sources said today.

"At present, the state government's employees and pensioners are getting DA at the rate of 47 per cent with effect from July 1 this year," state Finance Minister Badal Chowdhury told reporters.

The Council of Ministers decided to release further instalment of DA at the rate of 10 per cent from January 1, 2014, for the state government employees and pensioners, taking the rate to 57 per cent.

Chowdhury stated that the state government employees were getting 33 per cent less DA than the central government employees which could be met up if the Centre agreed to allocate more funds.
 

He said, the state in a memorandum submitted to the 14th Finance Commission, has asked the Centre to introduce a uniform pay structure for all government employees in the country.
