A tropical storm has formed in the eastern Pacific Ocean, bringing a storm warning for coastal areas in the southernmost parts of Mexico.
The National Hurricane Center said yesterday evening that Tropical Storm Barbara was about 145 miles (233 kilometres) south-southwest of Salina Cruz, Mexico.
The storm has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph (64 kmph) and is standing still.

A tropical storm warning is in effect in Mexico from Lagunas de Chacahua to Boca de Pijijiapan.
The storm is expected to bring 3 to 6 inches of rain over southern Oaxaca, Mexico, with a few pockets getting as much as 10 inches.
