Trough in South West Bay may bring rain in TN

A trough of low pressure in South West Bay of Bengal could bring rain over the next 24 hours in many places in southern Tamil Nadu and a few places in northern parts of the state, a Metrological Department official said here today.

"There is a trough in South West Bay of Bengal and under its influence, rainfall can be expected in many places in southern Tamil Nadu and a few places in northern parts of the state over the next 24 hours," Director, Area Cyclone Warning Centre (ACWC), Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai, S R Ramanan, told PTI.

The trough, which formed a few days back over the South Andaman Sea, drifted westwards and yesterday it was lying over South West Bay and it was persisting today too in the same area, he added.
 

Meanwhile, several parts of the state today experienced rains, including Hosur, Palacode, Harur (all in Dharmapuri district), Bodinayakanur, Andipatti (Theni district), Nilakottai (Dindigul district) Vadipatti (Madurai district), and Manimuthar Dam (Tirunelveli district) and Coimbatore.
