Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi today termed Telangana Rashtra Samiti's refusal to merge with his party as "backstabbing" and recalled how KCR chief K Chandrasekhar Rao "betrayed" him.
"He came to my home one day after the Telangana Bill was passed. He sat in my room and thanked Soniaji for granting statehood for Telangana. He first shook hands with me and promised to sail with me.
"He later embraced me and repeated his promise. And, after stepping out of the room, he went back on his word. It was like embracing you and stabbing in the back," Rahul said, addressing an election campaign meeting at Dichpalli in Nizamabad district late this evening without naming Rao.

"He makes promises only to break them. He will betray you as well by making many promises", Rahul charged.
Noting that electricity was critical to turning the big dreams of development of Telangana into a reality, he said a 4,000 MW plant would be set up to tide over the crisis.
