TRS is one of the most vocal proponents of the separate Telangana cause and had often been at the loggerheads with the Centre for realising the long-pending demand.

Congress leaders yesterday sought to speak to TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao when the UPA Presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee called on the ruling Congress MLAs, MPs and MLCs in the state capital as part of his campaign to the July 19 Presidential poll.

TRS has two MPs and 17 MLAs in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, who are members of the electoral college in the election to the highest Constitutional post.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had called up Chandrasekhar Rao appealing to him to support Mukherjee's candidature, party sources had claimed earlier.
