"Almost everyday about 400 two wheeler riders die in road accidents across the country because they don't wear helmets," she said.

"Anguished by the number of two-wheeler accidents. I would like to make a serious effort to save some lives.JoinMe," she tweeted.

Kavitha said, "It is the need of hour to safeguard our brothers and rewrite the tradition by gifting them a helmet this rakhi. As the number of deaths in two-wheeler accidents are much higher than the terrorist attacks."

Rama Rao retweeted Kavitha's tweet and appreciated the cause.

Ace shuttler Saina Nehwal supported the campaign.
