According to police, one Kamal Agrawal, a licenced trader of fertiliser in Indore had booked the truck (MP-19/HA 1163) to transport 600 bags of ammonium nitrate, weighing 30 tonnes, to Singrauli. The truck had left Indore on April 19 for its destination, they said.
However, even after 15 days, the truck has not reached its destination. When Agrawal's efforts to trace the truck and its driver proved futile, he informed the police about the truck that was laden with the chemical.
After registering a complaint in this regard, police have launched a hunt to trace the truck. It has not received any information about its whereabouts so far.
Ammonium nitrate is generally used as a fertiliser. In the last few years, ultras have been using this chemical to carry out blasts, following which, the government has categorised it as an explosive material, police added.
