Truck cleaner shot at, robbed

A truck cleaner was shot at by

unidentified miscreants after robbing him and the driver of their belongings, on a highway in Kanpur Dehat area, police said.

The truck carrying stone chips was going to Jhansi yesterday, when a white SUV overtook their vehicle and held them captive at gun-point near Daulatpur village. The duo -- driver (Devendra Kumar) and cleaner (Ramjivan Hardoi) were robbed off their mobile phones, ATM card, drivers' license and a sum of Rs 3,000, Kanpur Dehat police spokesperson said.

When the miscreants to tried to steal the truck, the cleaner raised an alarm after which he was shot at, the spokesperson said.
 

The duo were freed by locals after they called for help. While the cleaner has been sent to a hospital, police has sent a team to nab the culprits, they said.

No arrest has been made so far and police is investigating the matter.
