Truck driver electrocuted

A truck driver was electrocuted and his vehicle burnt after coming in contact with a high-tension electric line in Odisha's Dhenkanal district, the police said today.

The deceased, identified as Sudam Rout of Ghodadiyan in Odagaon, died on the spot.

The incident took place when the truck was unloading stone chips in the premises of the Homeopathy and Ayurvedic district office for construction work.

The bed of the vehicle came in contact with the high voltage electric wire leading to electrocution, said Hemant Kumar Panda, SDPO, Dhenkanal.

"We rushed to the spot immediately after getting the information. As the truck caught fire after touching the live wire, we had to take help of he fire brigade to douse the flames," said Abhinab Dalua, IIC, Dhenkanal Town police station.
