A truck driver was electrocuted when the vehicle came in contact with high tension live wire on Kandela-Jahanpura road in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said today.

The deceased, identified as Nasreen Singh (40), was yesterday electrocuted after the loaded truck came in contact with a live wire dangling on the road, they said.

However, according to police, the helper of the truck narrowly escaped the tragedy.

Meanwhile, the irate villagers protested against the power department over their alleged negligence in the incident.

A case has been registered and probe is on, police added.
