Truck driver killed in freak mishap

A 40-year-old truck driver was killed in a freak road accident on the Bombay-Agra Highway within Kasara limits, police said today.

The incident took place late last night when the loaded truck was proceeding towards Nashik and the driver, Mahendra Yadav lost control over the vehicle near Mokhavande village due to a flat tyre, PSI K G Ghosalkar told PTI.

Sensing danger, he abruptly jumped out but was run over by his own truck, which subsequently crashed into a puncture repairs shop nearby.

Soon after, onlookers rushed Yadav to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Mohammad Nizam Mohammmad, the owner of the shop, which was damaged in the accident has filed a complaint following which offences of rash driving and negligence has been registered under IPC and Motor Vehicles Act against the dead driver.
