A 48-year-old container truck driver was allegedly killed by four men in a brutal road rage attack near here, police said today.

All the accused were arrested for the assault which took place at village Sapne in Palghar district late last evening, they said.

The deceased was identified as Harendrasingh Madansingh (48), a resident of Nagpur, the police said.

The accused, local villagers, were travelling on two motorbikes, which were overtaken by the truck driven by Madansingh on the Wada-Manor road, they said.

This enraged the motorcycle-borne men, who overtook the truck and forced it to stop, the police added.

They got into a heated argument with the truck driver. Things took an ugly turn when the quartet repeatedly kicked Madansingh and hit him with bricks, leading to his death, they said.

The accused were booked under IPC sections related to murder and wrongful restraint, the police added.

They were identified as Yogesh Patil, Devendra Patil, Jayesh Patil and Kiran Bhoir, all aged between 25 and 30 years, they added.
