The Kalwan police has registered an offence against a truck owner and a driver for allegedly stealing 194 quintals of onions worth Rs 9.93 lakh while transporting them from Kalwan to Faizabad in Uttar Pradesh early this month, police said.

A police squad has been rushed to Faizabad to nab the owner Faizal Khan and driver Sanjay, the police said.

Sunita Sunil Mahajan of Kalwan's Suyog Trading Company had sent a truck load 194 quintals of onions to Uttar Pradesh in early November.

However, inquiries with the company supposed to take delivery revealed that the onions had not been received, after which she lodged a complaint of theft against the truck owner and driver with the Kalwan police.

In her complaint, she has expressed her suspicion about the truck owner and driver selling the onions to some other dealer, due to its high price.
