Truck up in flames; 6 firefighters injured

A truck carrying huge quantity of inflammable material caught fire at southwest Delhi's Jindpur Road, police said today.

Six fire officials who went to douse the fire suffered burn injuries when a drum inside the truck exploded during the operation around 10.30 pm yesterday, said a police official.

The injured officials were identified as Satyavan, Vijender, Ashok, Satyamaan, Narendra and Ravinder. They were rushed to Raja Harishchandra Hospital.

The burn injuries were minor and the officers were soon discharged, said the official.

The truck is suspected to have come from Rajasthan. The driver of the truck was missing and things shall become clear only after the driver or the owner is questioned.
 

The nature of the inflammable material and the cause of the fire are also to be ascertained, the official said.
