US President Donald Trump offered Mexico rescue assistance after a deadly earthquake struck its sprawling capital, the White House said.
Trump spoke to President Enrique Pena Nieto "to extend his condolences for the lives lost and damage caused by yesterday's earthquake in central Mexico."
"The President offered assistance and search-and-rescue teams, which are being deployed now," the White House said.

Rescuers are still searching for survivors of the powerful 7.1-magnitude quake that killed more than 200 people.
"The President also pledged to continue close coordination with Mexico as the two countries respond to the recent earthquakes and hurricanes," the White House said.
