The elections to the 30-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) will be held on May 3, the State Election Commissioner said today.
"Notification for the elections will be issued on April 4 where 7,58,554 voters including 3,75,117 women are eligible to exercise their franchise. Counting will be held on May 6," State Election Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Rakesh told reporters here.
Out of the 30 seats, two are nominated by the Governor and election would be held for 28 seats, he said.

The TTAADC was formed in January 1982 under the Seventh Schedule of the Constitution and later its powers were promoted by amending the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution in August 1984 to protect and safeguard the political, economic and cultural interests of the tribals.
The tribal council constitutes two third of the state territory and home to the tribals who form one third of the population.
