: The fate of about Rs 15 crore worth demonetized notes offered by lakhs of devotees in the hundi of Lord Venkateswara temple at Tirumala is still hanging in the balance, said temple sources.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, which governs the cash rich temple, had already written to RBI and government on the defunct notes after the deadline for exchange of demonetised notes expired on December 30, temple sources told PTI.
TTD is awaiting a reply from the RBI and government, sources said.

Even after the deadline expired, lakhs of devotees from across the country continued to offer the junked currency in the hundi along with valid notes in the past three months, they said.
Subsequently accumulation of dead notes has reached a staggering amount of about Rs 15 crore till date, the sources said, adding they still hoped to get a positive reply from the union government and RBI on the issue.
Last month itself, Rs eight crore worth demonetised currency was received at the temple, they said.
