The planning and monitoring process in Arunachal Pradesh went online today with the launching of scheme management system (SMS) software by Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.

"It would serve as blessing for quick preparation of annual operating plan and budget while ensuring transparency to check corruption and misuse of funds by timely execution of projects to check cost overrun," Tuki said.

The single window SMS offers multifaceted modules, like project management, annual plan, third party monitoring and file management besides a grievances redressal system for the citizens to complaint against ongoing schemes, said Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) Ltd's principal consultant Anupam Banerjee.

Banerjee confirmed that Arunachal Pradesh is pioneer to launch this software in the country.

Terming it as a watershed moment for Arunachal, planning secretary Sonam Chombay said from manual to automation, the software will herald a new era of centralised planning and transparency with a provision for the citizens to give feeedbacks online.
