Tunisia's Interior Ministry says that the outspoken feminist that went into hiding after posting semi-nude pictures of herself is under arrest and will be investigated for "provocative acts" in a religious center.

Amina Tyler yesterday went to the religious center of Kairouan, where hardline Islamists had planned to hold their annual conference, and allegedly scrawled "FEMEN," the name of a Ukrainian feminist group that uses nudity in protests, on a wall near the main mosque.

Locals converged on her shouting "leave" before she was whisked away by police.

Interior Ministry spokesman Mohammed Ali Aroui said today she was engaging in provocative behavior and may be charged.

Ansar al-Shariah's annual conference was banned yesterday and one person died in the ensuing clashes with police.
