The spokesman for Warsaw's main international airport says that a Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300 safely made an emergency landing at the airport. The flight was given permission to fly on after being checked.

Przemyslaw Przybylski said today that the plane with 332 people on board, flying from Istanbul to San Francisco, made an unplanned landing at the Frederic Chopin airport.

The passengers were evacuated and airport services, including explosives experts, inspected the aircraft. "The checking is over, the plane is safe and can fly on, after refueling," Przybylski said.

He would not say what caused the emergency landing of the passenger jet. TVN24 said a suspicious package was spotted on board.
