Thousands of bags of turmeric were today destroyed in a fire in a private turmeric godown in Thukukanour village in the district, police said.
The fire occurred in the wee hours and 15,000 bags were destroyed.
The fire was brought under control by fireforce personnel.
Police are probing the cause of the fire.
