Turmeric futures drift lower on subdued spot cues

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Turmeric prices plunged by Rs 82 to Rs 7,138 per quintal in futures trade today as operators offloaded bets, tracking a weak trend at the physical markets due to muted demand.

Marketmen said besides uninterrupted supplies from producing regions, lack of buying support from consuming industries at existing levels in the spot markets, triggered offloading of participants in futures market that led to a fall in turmeric prices.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, turmeric for most-traded December dipped by Rs 82 or 1.14 per cent to Rs 7,138 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,735 lots.

Likewise, the delivery for November slumped by Rs 80 or 1.10 per cent to Rs 7,178 per quintal, having an open interest of 2,700 lots.
