Press Trust of India New Delhi

Turmeric prices rose 0.21 per cent

to Rs 6,682 per quintal in futures trading on Friday due to raising of bets by participants amid firm demand at the physical markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in November was trading higher by Rs 14, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 6,682 per quintal with an open interest of 12,370 lots.

The spice for delivery in December also increased by Rs 10, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 6,710 per quintal in an open interest of 1,730 lots.

Analysts said widening of holdings by traders amid pick-up in domestic as well as export demand at the spot market, pushed up turmeric prices in futures trade.
