Falling for the second straight day, turmeric prices fell further by 1.55 per cent to Rs 9,680 per quintal in futures trade today as traders indulged in trimming positions amid easing spot demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in April declined by Rs 152, or 1.55 per cent, to Rs 9,680 per quintal, with an open interest of 23,495 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in far-month May traded lower by Rs 154, or 1.54 per cent, to Rs 9,816 per quintal in 5,065 lots.

Analysts said offloading of positions by participants, triggered by tepid demand in the spot market against adequate stocks positions on higher supplies from producing belts kept turmeric prices lower at futures trade.
