Turmeric prices were down 0.58 per cent to Rs 8,212 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators trimmed their positions, triggered by increased arrivals in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in June eased by Rs 48 or 0.58 per cent to Rs 8,212 per quintal with an open interest of 12,635 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in July contracts traded lower by Rs 44 or 0.53 per cent to Rs 8,170 per quintal in 19,295 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, tracking low demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
