Turmeric prices were down 3.32% to Rs 7,682 per quintal in futures trade on Tuesday on account of fall in domestic and export demand at the spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in September fell by Rs 264 or 3.32% to Rs 7,682 per quintal with an open interest of 24,340 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contracts traded lower by Rs 238 or 2.88% to Rs 8,030 per quintal in 2,640 lots.
Market analysts said offloading of positions by traders, triggered by muted demand at the spot market against adequate stocks position, mainly kept pressure on turmeric prices at futures trade.
