Supported by uptick in demand in the spot market amid restricted arrivals from producing regions, turmeric prices were up by 1.94 per cent to Rs 8,320 per quintal in futures trade today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in far-month August rose by Rs 158, or 1.94 per cent to Rs 8,320 per quintal with an open interest of 12,715 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in July gained Rs 154, or 1.89 per cent to Rs 8,320 per quintal in 20,180 lots.

Analysts said besides pick up in demand in the spot market, restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
