Turmeric futures recover on firm physical sentiments

Turmeric prices spurted by Rs 82 to Rs 7,068 per quintal in futures trade today after operators built up fresh positions at existing levels driven by a firm trend at physical markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, turmeric for delivery in current month was trading notably higher by Rs 82 or 1.17 per cent to Rs 7,068 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,415 lots.

The delivery for the most active delivery in December month contract up by Rs 76 or 1.09 per cent to Rs 7,038 per quintal, having an open interest of 6,340 lots.

Marketmen said the recovery in turmeric prices in futures trade was mostly due to building of positions by participants, supported by a firm trend at the spot markets.
