Turmeric prices went up by 1.09 per cent to Rs 7,760 per quintal in futures trading today as participants built up fresh positions after upsurge in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 84, or 1.09 per cent to Rs 7,760 per quintal with an open interest of 3,690 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in April contracts edged up by Rs 10, or 0.13 per cent to Rs 7,690 per quintal in 5,880 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders following pick up in demand in the physical market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly influenced turmeric prices at futures trade.
