Turmeric futures rise 1.50 pc as demand picks up

Turmeric prices rose by 1.50 per cent to Rs 9,086 per quintal in futures market today after participants built-up positions, supported by pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in far-month April rose by Rs 134, or 1.50 per cent, to Rs 9,086 per quintal with an open interest of 31,330 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in May contract moved up by Rs 94, or 1.04 per cent to Rs 9,134 per quintal in 6,290 lots.

Market analysts said speculators created fresh positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market amid tight supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade. PTI KPS SUNTurmeric futures rise 1.
