Turmeric futures rise as demand picks up

Spice for delivery in August contracts traded higher by 0.77%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Turmeric prices were higher by 0.94 per cent to Rs 7,070 per quintal in futures trade today, supported by rising demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing belts.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 66, or 0.94 per cent to Rs 7,070 per quintal with an open interest of 18,535 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August contracts traded higher by Rs 54, or 0.77 per cent to Rs 7,102 per quintal in 16,620 lots.

Market analysts said besides a pickup in demand at the spot market, restricted supplies from producing belts too, led to the rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
