Turmeric, jeera down on sluggish demand

Turmeric and jeera prices drifted Rs 100 per quintal in the national capital today due to muted demand from retailers and stockists amid adequate stocks position.

Turmeric prices declined by Rs 100 to conclude at Rs 8,000-12,000 per quintal.

Jeera common and jeera best quality also fell by Rs 100 each to conclude at Rs 15,900-16,500 and Rs 19,900-20,400 per quintal.

Marketmen said sluggish demand from retailers and stockists against sufficient stocks, mainly pulled down turmeric and jeera prices.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 160-190, black pepper (per kg) 650-800, betel-nut (kg) 300-350, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,770-1,790 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 2,040-2,060.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 800-860, cardamom (colour robin) 800-820, cardamom bold 810-830, cardamom extra (bold) 940-990 and cloves 750-850.
