Turmeric and jeera prices rose up to Rs 500 per quintal in the national capital today on fall in supplies from producing belts against higher demand from stockists and rising export enquiries.

Besides, firming trend in futures market supported the upside in prices.

Turmeric prices rose by Rs 400 to conclude at Rs 9,100-13,700 per quintal on reports of damage to its crop against rising demand.

Jeera common and best quality also traded higher by Rs 500 each to finish at Rs 14,400-14,900 and Rs 17,600-18,100 per quintal, respectively on lower sowing and export demand.

Traders said buying support from stockists and exporters against fall in supplies from producing belts mainly pushed up turmeric and jeera prices.
