Turmeric up 0.63% on spot demand

Traders create fresh positions on higher offtake in domestic and export markets

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Turmeric prices edged up by 0.63 per cent to Rs 7,382 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid rising domestic as well as export demand in the spot market.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in far-month April rose by Rs 46, or 0.63 per cent to Rs 7,382 per quintal with an open interest of 11,890 lots.

The December contract gained Rs 36, or 0.57 per cent to Rs 6,342 per quintal in 8,530 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built-up by speculators on the back of rising domestic and export demand in the spot market mainly led to the rise in turmeric prices in futures trade.
