A pregnant woman delivered in a bus after she was allegedly turned away by the staff of a government hospital in Narvana city in the district early morning today, saying that doctors had not arrived for duty.

The newborn died immediately after the birth.

The woman, Geeta Devi, claimed that she along with her mother and brother went to Narvana General Hospital around 8.30 AM after experiencing labour pain.

Geeta alleged that staff of the hospital turned her away, saying that the doctors had not arrived yet.

In advanced stage of labour pain, she then decided to take a bus for Jind.

According to her, when the bus reached Safa Kheri village near Uchana town, she delivered a baby girl. The baby, however, could not survive.

Her relatives have alleged negligence on part of the hospital officials and demanded strict actions against them.

When questioned about the incident, incharge of Narvana General Hospital R K Singla said he has received information in this regard and will investigate the matter.
