Tusker carcass found in Mayurbhanj forest

Forest officials in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district recovered a carcass of a tusker in the forests close to the Similipal National Park here.

The carcass of a 15-year-old tusker was found lying in the forest at Nahana under Karanjia forest division, said DFO Prasana Kumar Behera.

He said the cause of the elephant's death could be ascertained only after post mortem.

Stating that the carcass was found this evening, Behera said the post mortem would be conducted tomorrow.

Both teeth of the tusker were intact, Behera said.

With today's incident, at least eight elephants have died in Mayurbhanj district within a span of 30 days, forest department officials said.
