Tusker electrocuted

A 12-year-old male elephant was

electrocuted when it came in contact with an open high power electric transformer near a tea estate in Assam's Nagaon district, forest officials said today.

The tusker was moving about in the Lusai labour line of nearby Salna Tea Estate when it came in contact with an open 1100-kv electric transformer and was electrocuted yesterday.

The animal had strayed out of the Salna forest.
