Tusker found dead

An elephant was today found dead

in Kota range of Ramnagar forest division in Nainital district, forest officials said here.

The 10-year-old tusker was found dead in a field in Leti village.

Though the exact cause of the pachyderm's death will be known only after a post mortem is conducted, prima facie it appears that the animal was electrocuted, they said.

DFO P S Shrivastava and a team of doctors have rushed to the spot to examine the circumstances leading to the elephant's death.
