Tuticorin harbour to be under CCTV surveillance

The fishing harbour management committee, formed six years ago, has decided to bring the harbour here under CCTV surveillance.

A top official of the Management committee said nine rotating cameras would be installed to monitor the bustling harbour to prevent crimes and anti-social incidents.

The suggestion for installing the cameras was made by district collector M. Ravikumar.

A control room also had been set up to monitor the recordings of the camera,live.

About 250 mechanised boats were being berthed in harbour,and some 300 to 350 tonnes of fish was being brought to the harbour for auction.

The cameras would also help monitor the business from nine pm to early morning every day,the official said.
