Tutor gets three-month jail for outraging student's modesty

A local court has convicted a tutor for outraging the modesty of his 17-year-old girl student and sentenced him to imprisonment for three months.

In his judgement delivered yesterday, Judicial Magistrate first class (JMFC) Sayyad Ahmad Hasan held Anand Deshpande, proprietor of a coaching class here, guilty under section 353 (assaulting or using criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the IPC.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 800 on the accused.

According to the prosecution, the incident had taken place on May 30, 2011 when Deshpande had outraged the modesty of the girl, a student of class XII, who had gone to the coaching centre to know her result.
