In her more than two-decade long career in showbiz, Rajeshwari Sachdev has appeared only on few TV shows as the actress says she is scared of long-term commitments.

Rajeshwari, who will be next seen on 'Balika Vadhu' in an important role as the show takes an 11-year leap, said she likes to play unique roles when it comes to TV.

"I have been a part of intrinsic roles only on TV because I feel they are huge commitments. My last show was 'Laut Aao Trisha', which was a finite series, and my last daily soap was 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii', where I appeared only for three months.

"When you do a film, you have the script ready in your hand but when you do TV you don't know when it's going to end. Appearing on TV shows is like being on a war front," Rajeshwari told PTI.

On Colors' show 'Balika Vadhu', the 'Welcome to Sajjanpur' actress plays a widow who is a confidante of the new child bride Nimboli at her household.

"I play Mangla Devi on the show. She is a widow and being that she is not allowed to participate in the household chores. When the little girl is ill-treated in the family, she raises her voice against it. But nobody bothers about what she thinks," she said.

The longest-running show, featuring Toral Rasputra in the lead as Anandi, kicked off with the message of child marriage. With the leap, Anandi's daughter Nimboli's lost childhood takes the centrestage.

"Such issues still exist in the society. India is a huge country and we are not talking about the whole nation. And this issue (child marriage) is still happening in the interiors of Rajasthan," she said.

The National-award winning actress started her career on the small screen as a host of 'Antakshari' followed by 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki' and her stint with husband Varun Badola on dance-based reality show 'Nach Baliye'.

Rajeshwari, a regular in Shyam Bengal's films, says she is in talks with the veteran filmmaker for his next project.

"It's too early to divulge any details about the film. Let him announce it first," she said.
