In a tribute to the mercurial late Rituparno Ghosh, his brother-disciple actor Jisshu Sengupta has come up with a telly soap sharing the name of the master celluloid craftsman's award winning flm and bearing the same aesthetic touch of art designing.

Says actor-state women's commission member June Malia, "Sob Choritro Kalponic' to be aired on Star Jalsa is our way of paying tribute to Rituda who had introduced me to documentary. I remember the '52 episode' days. Now when we work in such an aesthetically designed set, with every minute details looked into we feel like students of Rituda - Jisshu, Nilanjana, me and others - who was a good tutor."

June, a known name in both Tollywood and small screen, said about her role, "A character is a character. And I don't demarcate between daily soaps and features so long the project is interesting enough and (made) by people I feel like to work with."

"Like any Rituparno project here things are etched out in details. The characters and the sequences. My character is an out and out negative role, not having been much familiar to tv audiences, I had been teasing Jisshu when he would give me a character, I wanted to do a character which is not of cardboard type, and he came up with Sob Choritro Kalponic. In a

way I think I am under the watchful eyes of Rituda."

"Yes every moment during the shoot, plannings we feel the presence of Rituda with us. I can sense his blessings. This is our presentation to Bengali small screen, a story which the audience can relate to and which is contemporary." Jisshu, having been mentored by the ace director and part of Rituparno-starrer Arekti Premer Galpo by Kaushik Ganguly and Chitrangada besides several others, said.

The young female lead of the serial, Ujani, a.K.A Kuhu, said, "Sob Choritro Kalponic as the name suggests is a story of modern day fantasy, of a girl's journey from the unreal world of make believe to harsh truth."

The director Suman Das, having made Kanamachhi serial again drawing the name from a popular Raj Chakroborty flick, said, "The art work is of supreme importance here as it has references to Rituparno Ghosh film.

"The producers, who had long association with Rituda and the cast - we all worked together to make it a sensitive film about a girl's journey in life and with a lot of empathy," he said.
