The men were arrested yesterday after they allegedly misbehaved with some followers of a community, who were organising a religious activity in the town, the police said.
The accused tried to stop the function because they suspected that the community had controlled and stopped the rains so that their programme, in which saints were to address, could be held without any hurdle.
"They reached in the programme in two four wheelers and distributed pamphlets yesterday against the community. They misbehaved with the followers and said that they would face consequences if they did not free the weather from their control," police said.
All twelve were booked under sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation), 298 (uttering words with deliberate intent to hurt religious feelings)and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of IPC and produced before a court today where the magistrate remanded them to judicial custody.
