Twelve get life imprisonment for murder

Twelve persons, including six women, were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a local court, in a 2011 murder case.

Sixth Additional District Judge in Markapur, G Sridevi, convicted the twelve accused-- Duddu Lazurus, Duddu Ashi, Duddu Balaswamy, Duddu Mariyadas, Duddu Mariyamma, Sheelam Nirmala, Sheelam Venkatayya, Duddu Bharati, Duddu Rani, Duddu Lakshmi, Ambadipudi Jyothi, Ambadipudi Daveedu, and awarded them life sentence.

According to B Srinivasa Rao, Circle Inspector of Police, Markapur, the murder had taken place in Bagolu village of Ardhaveedu mandal of Prakasam district on July 4, 2011.

The convicts, who hailed from the same village had a dispute with the victim Panuganti Daveedu (55). They attacked Daveedu at his house, in which he received severe injuries. He was shifted to Guntur Government Hospital for treatment, where he died some days later, Rao said.
