The twelve-hour Mizoram bandh, called by the opposition Mizo National Front today to protest against the hike in the price of rice and rates of different taxes and service charges by the state government, passed off peacefully.
Police said the bandh was peaceful and there was no report of any law and order problem anywhere in the state.
No attendance was recorded at any government office as even ministers and senior officials remained absent.
The MNF leaders threatened to continue the agitation unless the Lal Thanhawla-led Congress government rolled back the decisions.
